Methods

Gastroscopy, colonoscopy, rectosigmoidoscopy, gastrostomy (PEG), anorectal manometry, esophageal manometry, and 24-hr pH study.

Indications

Children with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, Hirschsprung's disease, and gastroesophageal reflux. Work-up and treatment of conditions such as intestinal bleeding, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and eating disorders.

Treatment outcomes

We participate in the SWIBREG register for inflammatory bowel disease and the Celiac Disease Register.

Waiting times

Waiting time is <1 month.

Procedures

The nature of the problem or diagnosis determines when the patient will be given an appointment. For the 24-hour pH study, acid-suppressing medications are discontinued at least one week ahead. Prep varies depending on the type of procedure or examination to be done. Printed patient information is available, and will be sent when the patient is called.
