Breast treatments
The advantage of using accelerated partial breast irradiation as an adjuvant treatment for breast cancer is that the treatment can be given over 5 days as an in-patient on ward 85 instead of as external radiation over 5 weeks. The treatment has few side-effects.
Boost treatment after external radiation in order to reach a high local dose can also be carried out with brachytherapy.
Treatment of cutaneous metastasis is another area for brachytherapy in the treatment of breast cancer.
