Department of Urology
The Department of Urology at Örebro University Hospital has 70 employees including nine physicians and three physicians in training positions. Our in-patient ward has 18 beds during the week and 10 at weekends.
In 2006, we carried out 1,400 surgical procedures and 7,100 out-patient visits. We have a specialist in urology stationed at the Department of Emergency Medicine during the day, and another on backup call during evenings and weekends.
Our broad spectrum of activities ranges from basic urological care to highly specialized urological treatments. The largest groups of diseases are prostate cancer, bladder cancer, urinary problems, and kidney stone problems.
We have high competence in endoscopic urology, prosthesis surgery, and kidney, penis, and bladder cancer surgery
Research and development is an important part of our activities. We have an EBU accreditation for education of specialist urologists from all EU countries.
